Our equipment and infrastructure
As well as standard laboratory equipment our facilities (located in the Adrian Building) include:
- Verogen MiSeq FGx Forensic Genomics system, hosted by the NUCLEUS Genomics service
- IonTorrent PGM system for next-generation sequencing
- ONT MinION devices for third-generation sequencing
- ABI 3500xL 24-capillary electrophoresis platform for DNA fragment analysis, purchased 2019 via the University of Leicester Research Infrastructure Fund
- ABI 3130xL 16-capillary electrophoresis apparatus including 6-colour upgrade
- ABI 7900HT Quantitative RT-PCR machine, hosted by the NUCLEUS Genomics service
- ABI Veriti, G-Storm and MJR-Tetrad PCR machines
- Agilent Bioanalyzer for DNA quantitation
- QIAcube automated robot for DNA extraction
- Access to the University’s ALICE High-Performance Computing cluster
