The Victorian Studies Centre has a seasonal Spring Seminar Series, which often features new research on Dickens. In recent years Dickensian speakers have included film maker Michael Eaton, Professor Juliet John and Dr Melisa Klimaszewski.

On 23 May 2012, Dr Robert Douglas Fairhurst, author of the highly acclaimed Becoming Dickens (Harvard University Press, 2011) spoke on 'The Beauties of Charles Dickens'. The Independent described Robert's biography of the first three decades of Dickens's life as a 'zestful and agile book', read the rest of the review to find out more. You can also listen to Robert discussing his book, or read his thoughts on recent film and television adaptations of Dickens novels.

Find out more about the topics covered on this year's Spring Seminar Series on the website of the Victorian Studies Centre.
