In May 2014 I gave the keynote address at the Bureau for International Language Coordination (NATO) conference in Bruges, looking at the question of how different countries can address the issues of language assessment for armed forces personnel who are likely to be placed in multinational peace keeping operations.

On 2nd February 2014 I gave the keynote talk at the Trinity College Conference at the Birmingham Metropole Hotel, on Language Testing in Flux. This provided an analysis of key social changes that are likely to impact on the work of examination boards over the next 5 to 10 years.

In September 2013 I gave an invited talk on the construct of 'fluency' in language assessment, for the invited Cambridge English Centenary Symposium on Speaking Assessment.

In October 2012 I was the keynote speaker at AFELTA, the association of Asian examination boards, which meets in Xi'an, China.

The Language Testing Research Colloquium for 2011 was held at the University of Michigan, where I was presenting in a symposium on Assessment Literacy. The title of my presentation was "Operationalizing Assessment Literacy" in the context of blended learning approaches to the testing components of teacher education programmes.

In 2011 I gave a joint presentation on the potential use of Performance Decisions Trees (PDTs) in ESP contexts at the BALEAP Conference in Portsmouth, 10th - 12th April. If you're not sure what PDTs are, then see: Fulcher, G., Davidson, F. & Kemp, J. (2011). "Effective rating scale development for speaking tests: Performance Decision Trees."
