Dr Karim Ahmed

Dr Karim Ahmed is a Teaching Fellow in the Master’s in Engineering Management team, at the University of Leicester Department of Engineering, where he is involved in teaching Project Management, Lean Engineering and Business Simulation.

Prior to joining the University of Leicester, Department of Engineering, Dr. Ahmed was a Teaching and Research Fellow at Loughborough University London, where he taught on modules such as Innovation Management, Entrepreneurship, Small Business Finance, Intellectual Property, Understanding Business Failure, and Quantitative & Qualitative data analysis.  Karim is also an independent reviewer for several academic journals and conferences. An elected nominee for a teaching award at the Loughborough University London Students’ Union has seen his approach among students and members of staff a success; utilising novel innovative research-supported teaching practices and contributing to the team achievement of high PTES scores for the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Loughborough University London. In 2016, Karim was a member of the team that helped launch the UK Forum for Supply Chain Sustainability (UKFSCS); a unique collaborative network of 25 leading business partners, under the auspices of Carbon Trust & Dr. Alok Choudhary (Loughborough University), driving industry-academia collaborations.

Starting with him acquiring a B.Sc. in Technology Based Management from the German University in Cairo, with a triple major in Operations Management, Strategic Management, and Pharmacy & Biotechnology, he subsequently pursued an M.Sc. in Operations Management and Innovation & Technology Management, and finally completing his Ph.D. at Loughborough University in developing a Holistic Decision Support Framework for Sustainable Supply Chain implementation.

Research Interests

Dr. Ahmed conducts research in Information Systems (Business Informatics), Sustainable Supply Chain Management, Strategic Management, Supporting Decision Making and Analysis, Multi-Criteria Decision Making, Industry 4.0, Innovation Management, Text & Content Analysis, and Data Mining.
