National Student Survey 2018

Across the Department, 89% of our final year students who participated in the National Student Survey (NSS) expressed overall satisfaction with their degree programme. For our General Engineering programme, 100% of the students who participated expressed satisfaction overall, ranking us joint 1st in the country for General Engineering courses. Our Aerospace Engineering courses are now ranked in the top 10 in the country, and our Mechanical Engineering in the top third of similar courses in overall expressed student satisfaction.

The National Student Survey is an annual survey of final year students at institutions across the UK to gather their anonymous opinions on the quality of their courses.

The Department works hard to continually review and improve our courses and are already using these data to plan improvements for the coming year. NSS data is one element of this, but other sources of dialogue and engagement with students are also vital, such as internal module surveys and student-staff committees.
