Liz’s first degree was in Chemistry and, after then completing a PGCE in 1993, she began teaching in primary schools in Warwickshire and Worcestershire acting as a Science and PE subject leader.

Liz then spent two years in the USA where she worked as a teacher in an elementary school, and also as a tutor of English as a second language.  She then spent 10 years teaching across Key Stage 1 and 2 in a Leicester city school, before moving to the School of Education in 2010 to study for a PhD in Education and work on the Primary PGCE course. She now works both as a teacher in a primary school and as a tutor at the University, pursuing her interests of teaching and research in both contexts. Liz is the Academic lead for the Primary PGCE, works as a PGCE Science tutor and supports the Primary SCITT programmes. Liz is Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
