After completing a PGCE at the University of Leeds in 1998, Jo taught in secondary schools across the Midlands for fifteen years. Her roles include subject leader, Head of Faculty as well as assistant leadership of a large special needs department.

Jo joined the School of Education as a lecturer in January 2014. Her main role was to create and establish the new combined humanities family of PGCE courses on the Secondary PGCE.

Jo’s current roles include:

  • Leading the PGCE Geography course
  • Developing mentor training for the Secondary PGCE
  • School of Education AccessAbility Tutor
  • Teaching and supervising research projects on the MA Education: Teaching and Learning
  • Module convenor for the Developing Effective and Inclusive Pedagogies module on the MA Education

Jo has also contributed to the following courses:
