School of Education leads Comenius Collaboration Project

Dr Phil Wood

Dr Wasyl Cajkler and Dr Phil Wood are acting as consultants to Uppingham Community College and Rutland County Council, as part of a Comenius project (European Union funded projects which aim to make improvements in the education sector). They will work with school improvement consultants, teacher centre directors and headteachers of schools in Granada, Spain.

On 26 January 2015, a highly successful seminar on the subject of assessment for learning was led by the University of Leicester at Uppingham College with additional input from the college’s headteacher (also head of Spanish). Eight visiting educationists from southern Spain attended the seminar to gain inspiration and ideas. One attendee commented: ‘it was very useful to have such a practical input.’ Another individual involved with the co-ordination of the project said: ‘The contingent was really thrilled with the presentation. It was directly relevant to their "mission" for improvement.’

This was the third in a series of School of Education led events. Further inputs, observations and workshops led by Dr Cajkler and Dr Wood will take place in Granada from 11-14 February 2015.
