The achievements of Professor Hilary Burgess have been recognised by the University community.

Professor Hilary Burgess is one of twelve women at the University to be selected to appear in an inaugural gallery of inspirational women at Leicester. The gallery is part of the celebrations to mark International Women’s Day (2015).

Hilary came to the University of Leicester in September 2010 where she took up the post of Director of Studies in the School of Education. Hilary’s outstanding work includes fulfilling the role of Chair for the National Network for EdD Directors (2005-13) and serving as a Council Member for the British Education Research Association (2009 – 2012). In 2013, she was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship by the Higher Education Academy in recognition of her contributions to learning and teaching in higher education.

Currently, Hilary is co Project Investigator for a major TEMPUS project which is focusing upon Capacity Development for Faculties of Education in the Middle East and North Africa. She is also Editor of the BERA Newsletter, Research Intelligence, and in that role attends the BERA Academic Publications Committee.
