Kenyan artist Michael Soi painting at an exhibition of his work in Seoul, South Korea

As the world becomes increasingly globalized, the need to interact with different cultures and understand disparate viewpoints is more important than ever, and the arts can provide salient means of connection.

My doctoral research in museum studies at the University of Leicester will examine intersections between Africa and Asia in art museums, using my years of living and working in both Kenya and South Korea as context for my study.  Completing a PhD will enable me to apply my unique accumulation of experiences and interests to teaching and curating in ways that engage and unite people.
