I gained a BA (Hons) Politics and Sociology from the University of East Anglia and completed my Masters in Criminology in 1999 here at the University of Leicester. Previously, I have researched on a Home Office funded community safety project and conducted research relating to the Licensing Act 2003. I have also worked on several educational-related projects. I have considerable experience of working on distance programmes but largely now contribute to teaching on the campus based undergraduate programme in Criminology.

I am also Director of Education for the Department, having general oversight of all aspects of learning and teaching across the Department and chairing the Departmental Learning and Teaching Committee.

I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
