Personal Details

I gained a BA (Hons) Politics and Sociology from the University of East Anglia and completed my Masters in Criminology in 1999 here at the University of Leicester. Previously, I have researched on a Home Office funded community safety project and conducted research relating to the Licensing Act 2003. I have also worked on several educational-related projects. I have considerable experience of working on distance programmes as well as contributing to teaching on the campus based undergraduate programme in Criminology.

I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Research Interests

  • How students interpret and undertake guided independent study
  • What constitutes ‘effective’ feedback.


I am happy to supervise dissertation projects relating to:

  • Alcohol-related crime and disorder
  • Crime prevention
  • Security
  • Cybercrime
