Personal details

After completing a BA (Hons) degree in Politics and Economic History at Manchester Polytechnic I served as a Police Constable for 26 years. During this time I obtained a postgraduate degree in Policing and Public Order from the Scarman Centre for the Study of Public Order, now the Department of Criminology, at the University of Leicester. Latterly I completed an M.Litt degree in Terrorism Studies at the University of St Andrews also by distance.

I am currently studying for a PhD with the Department of Politics at the University of Leicester. This is looking at the levels of violence experienced during the 1984 /1985 miner’s strike in the UK.
