Personal details

I obtained a BA (Hons) in History from the University of Cambridge, where I remained for postgraduate work. My MPhil  looked at a 17C sheriff of Middlesex, responsible for the development of a criminal justice system based on the ability to serve, rather than wealth. I then moved on to an MLitt that looked at the early development of the concept of public service. After this, I became a Fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge, where I was Director of the Wolfson Programme, an international Leadership Course for members of the military and public services, which includes amongst its alumni the current Head of the College of Policing, Alex Marshal, and the current head of the National Crime Agency, Lynne Owens.

After leaving Cambridge and working for several years as an educational consultant, I joined Essex Online, to set up and run their Foundation and BA degrees in Criminal Justice. In 2010 I began working for the Criminology Department of the University of Leicester, first as an Associate Tutor on their MSc SRM and latterly as a Teaching Fellow across all their undergraduate and postgraduate online courses.
