Doctoral study

I applied for the PhD whilst completing my MSc at the Department of Criminology. The unwavering support and guidance I have received has meant that I have been able to pursue my dream of becoming an academic researcher in an area I feel passionately about.

Amy, Criminology student

We are one of the world’s leading research-intensive universities, and research excellence is at the heart of what we do in criminology. We foster a research environment that encourages discovery, innovation and interdisciplinarity, which enables our students to thrive.

We offer a Doctorate of Philosophy, which is the highest level of degree that a student can achieve. Studying a PhD with us would mean that you would be supervised by someone who is at the forefront of their field. We have the capacity to supervise a broad range of research topics because of our diverse staff interests.
