Overview

Current research involves a combination of targeted and untargeted methods for the analysis of non-volatile compounds present in human plasma samples by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Untargeted, or metabolomic, methods allow to prospect for novel biomarkers to assist with both diagnosis, and prognosis of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Further to this, we have great interest in adopting previously suggested target biomarkers and using large data set population studies to help further the understanding of the role that these molecules may play in CVD.
