Health and Public Policy Evaluation Network (HaPPEN)

HaPPEN brings together researchers within the University of Leicester interested in the interaction of public policy and public health. The research of the network focuses on three broad areas:

  • Programme evaluation and estimation of the causal effects of policy (intended or unindented consequences).
  • Understanding the underlying mechanisms that inform policy design and implementation.
  • The measurement of population health and well-being.

A key goal is to improve understanding of the mechanisms through which policy can influence population health and drawing recommendations for the design and implementation of public policy in the UK and internationally.

HaPPEN encourages interdisciplinary discussion and collaboration, between both theoretical and empirical researchers, across a wide variety of disciplines including (but not limited to) economics, health sciences, psychology and sociology.
