Biography

Nik joined the Centre for Labour Market Studies (now in the School of Management) in 2005. Previously he has held research positions at Cardiff School of Social Sciences. He has a PhD in Sociology from Cardiff University (supported by a Marie Curie fellowship under the EU framework programme as well as an ESRC studentship) and a Mag.phil in Political Science from the University of Vienna.

Research Interests

International human resource management; global value chains and inter-firm relations; comparative work and employment relations in Europe; international industrial relations and trade unionism.

Nik is interested in value chain restructuring and the role standards play in coordinating inter-firm relations, for example International Framework Agreements. In this respect he is involved in research with colleagues from CRIMT (Interuniversity Research Centre on Globalization and Work, Université de Montréal) and DIIS (Danish Institute for International Studies, Copenhagen). He also contributed to policy debates at the level of the European Union and the International Labour Organisation.
