Professor Ian Clark Joins Discussion on BBC Radio Leicester

BBC Radio Leicester LogoOn Wednesday 25th February Professor Ian Clark took part in a discussion on the FBU strikes with Jonathan Lampon on his BBC Radio Leicester show.

The FBU (Fire Brigades Union) recently called strike action over changes to pensions and the retirement age, with rallies taking place across the country. The 24 hour strike began at 7am on Wednesday 25th February.

Along with Peter Flack, Assistant Secretary of the NUT in Leicester, Mel Elcock, a member of the ‘Dirty Thirty’ miners, and George Coucher, Chief Executive of the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, Professor Clark discussed the positive and negative aspects of strikes for both employees and employers, outcomes of previous strikes and under what circumstances unions should be able to call strikes.
