Personal details

I am an academic and journalist. As an academic, I worked as a Teaching Assistant at the Islamic University of Gaza in 2001. Later I worked for 5 years at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) as an academic instructor. In 2008, I graduated from the MBA programme at the IU-G. Later I worked as a lecturer at the University College of Applied Sciences in Gaza, where I taught a wide range of modules: including business administration: marketing strategies; business communication skills; strategic planning; human resource management and various business-related topics. In 2011, I moved to Istanbul Aydin University, School of Business where I continued teaching the same modules until 2016. Later I moved to TRT World TV English Channel in Istanbul as the Editor-in-Large of the news room.

My PhD journey started in 2013 and finished in 2018 with my thesis entitled 'An analysis of voters' perception of visual advertisements with respect to neuromarketing approach: eye tracking study' at Istanbul Technical University. The study was novel and distinctive because it introduced neuromarketing tools i.e. eye tracking to political marketing setting. Finally, as a researcher and journalist for the past decade, I published a host of articles and Op-eds for international newspapers and media outlets, in which I covered the Arab Spring, the Syrian Crisis, the Egyptian coup, Turkey's policies and other issues in MENA.

My teaching has previously encompassed undergraduate students in Palestine and Turkey across a number of aspects of English language, business, marketing including marketing research, marketing strategy, political marketing, public relations, introduction to business, marketing principles, management I and II, professional English I and II, project management, MS-Project, Primavera, English for engineering, International employment laws, HR courses in recruitment, selection and interviewing, financial incentives and perks, project proposals, writing reports, minutes, memos and business emails.

I am particularly interested in political marketing, customer behaviour, media messages and coverage efficiency measurements using neuroscientific methods such as neuromarketing, psychological metrics and eye tracking technologies.

I am presently seeking funds to work on political marketing to media agencies to help analyse viewers attitudes and tendencies. Also, studies to evaluate guilt and fear appeals in marketing communications.
