I studied my Masters degree in Economics (2008) and my PhD in Economics and Management of the National Economy (2011) at the Volgograd State Technical University in Volgograd, Russia. I worked as an Assistant Professor at Volgograd State Technical University in the Division of International Economics and Economic Theory (2008-2010), later as an Assistant Professor of the Hotel and Tourism Management Division at the Volgograd State Academy of Physical Culture (2010-2014) and as an Associate Professor of the Socio-cultural Service Division at Volgograd State Agrarian University (2014-2017).

I have taught different aspects of economics, tourism and services, and place marketing. I have also been involved in grant projects (Russian Humanitarian Scientific Foundation) for organising international scientific conferences and tourism research (2015, 2016 and 2017). In 2017 I joined the School of Business as a PhD student and a GTA.

My research interests cover a range of questions connected with place marketing and place branding. In my first PhD dissertation “Place marketing as a factor for socio-economic development and building a favourable image of a territory” (2011) I studied the foundations of  place marketing theory and applied it to creating a strategic plan for one of the cities in the Volgograd region of Russia. I have continued my research on various aspects of regional tourism development as well as place marketing and place branding.

My current PhD project is focused on studying place branding practices for small cities and rural areas.
