Personal details

I studied Education at The University of Nairobi, Kenya and have had a 23-year career in teaching and school headship in various schools in Africa and in The United Kingdom; my last position in education being the head of a Pupil Referral Unit in West Kent. My work has mainly focused on teaching and mentoring marginalised, vulnerable and disengaged young people, often at risk of harm or being involved in the criminal justice system. I then moved to the charity sector before leaving in 2014 to start a family venture in social housing which is located in East Kent. All through this period I continued to study, achieving various post graduate qualifications in leadership and management as well as membership of professional bodies including the Chartered Management Institute.

I joined the University of Leicester in 2016 to pursue an MSc in Management after which I continued to start my PhD in September 2017.

I continue to be involved in the community as a member of the Rotary Club of Medway Sunlight (Kent) as well as a trusteeship for 3 charities in Kent all of which support vulnerable young women and their children in education, housing and employment.
