I previously studied at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada, earning a Master of Business Administration in 2002. I also hold a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours)(Co-operative) from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada (2001). After working as an event manager in sport for a non-profit organisation, I took up a faculty position at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University in 2006, and I continue to teach in an undergraduate Business programme, primarily in the areas of marketing and communications. I joined the University of Leicester School of Business in May 2015 to begin my PhD studies.

My PhD research focuses on understanding the role that branding plays in the decision making process of consumers of experiences; specifically, I will explore how components of branding influence the decisions made by triathletes when they choose which events to participate in (or not). In considering this topic, I am seeking to understand some of the underlying perceptions that experiential consumers (athletes) have about brands, and how these contribute to the development of brand image, brand associations, and brand communities.

Other themes that I am interested in exploring include perception and attitudes related to branding within national and international sporting organisations and major events, brand family trees, and various management challenges in non-profit organisations.
