I obtained a BA (Hons) in Human Resource Management from De Montfort University in 2014. Having achieved a first-class degree and an award for Human Resource Management student of the year, I went on to secure a studentship at De Montfort University to study towards a PhD. In October 2017, I transferred to the University of Leicester to finish my doctoral studies.

My research interests include hard-to-reach, marginalised groups and their interaction with the labour market. Taking a qualitative approach, my’ research seeks to understand how labour market experiences are lived by those on the margins.

For my PhD, I am looking to understand how the disclosure of criminal records impacts the way in which individuals interact with the labour market, and the effect this potentially has on their desistance from crime. Through a sample of prisoners, individuals on probation and criminal record holders living in society, the research aims to challenge rhetoric around re-offending, education and employability.
