Before joining the University of Leicester in March 2015 I held a lectureship in Organisational Behaviour at the University of York. My higher education consists of a BSc in Business Management from the University of East Anglia and a research masters (MRes) and PhD in Management Studies from the University of Essex. My doctoral thesis used sociological literatures to explore the management of illegal drug taking in and around work.

I hold a Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice (PGCAP) and I am a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I am a keen triathlete and race for Team GB as an amateur Age-Grouper at European and World level championships. In 2018 I was 3rd at the European Long-Distance Triathlon Championships.


I teach across all levels in the School including Undergraduate, Postgraduate and MBA students. My expertise is in organizational behaviour and research methods.

My intellectual research project focuses on the experiences of those seen as ‘normal subjects’ within organisational spaces, focusing on their performances, wellbeing and regulation. Currently this plays out in three interdisciplinary work areas on drug use in organisations, gender equality in sport management and academic wellbeing. I am particularly interested in developing research projects on microdosing psychedelics and welcome any potential future collaborations.

Funded research

  • Erasmus+ project partner for Leicester entitled ‘Corporate governance in sport organisations: A gendered approach’. The other countries include Spain, Portugal, Turkey and Italy. The total cost of the project is €324000 and runs from January 2018-December 2021.
  • Principal investigator on ‘The regulation of vaping in and around organisational lives’ funded by Cancer Research UK and The Tobacco Advisory Group with Professor Jason Hughes (co-investigator). The total cost was £103,000 and ran from July 2017-May 2019.
  • +3 Economic Social Research Council (ESRC) PhD studentship ‘Essais on the drug-taking individual in the contemporary workplace’ from 2009-2012.
