A short biography of Dick Ng'Ambi

Dr Dick Ng'Ambi, University of Cape Town, South Africa

Dick Ng’ambi’s current portfolio is that of co-ordinating research at the Centre for Educational Technology (CET), University of Cape Town (UCT) and managing a Mobile Learning Project. CET provides specialist educational technology expertise in the continual improvement of the quality of higher education through widening access, promoting equity, integrating technologies with curriculum development, and researching effective practice. His research interests are in knowledge management, intelligent tutoring systems, collaborative tools and mobile learning. His most recent project involves the use of SMS texting for collaborative learning. He is the designer and developer of an anonymous collaborative knowledge sharing tool (the Dynamic Frequently Asked Questions – DFAQ). DFAQ has been used at UCT over three years. He has published widely and presented several papers at international conferences. He holds a BSc in Mathematics (University of Zambia), MSc Computer Science (University of Birmingham) and a Ph.D in Information Systems (University of Cape Town).
