Context

Back to main mapThese projects represent challenging, risky but potentially most rewarding area of e-learning enviroments.

Research about e-learning is being published and goes beyond the simplistic 'what works' scenarios of early technology introduction to focus on the potential and realities of embedding e-learning as an integral part of our teaching and learning mission.

This area is the power behind the e-learning movement and the greatest potential to put us all on the global e-map. The Institute of Learning Innovation will focus on scanning and bringing forward 'weaker' signals from the technological and e-learning environments for consideration.

Environment

In these E-Learning Environment projects, the external environment is scanned in the search for ‘weaker’ signals that might offer approaches to meeting students’ learning needs and expectations currently, but perhaps more importantly, in the future too.

While this is the most challenging and risky research area, potentially it is the most rewarding. These projects represent the greatest potential to successfully put the University on the e-learning map.

The technologies here will be peripheral but the research will position the visitor for developing local expertise, capabilities and competencies should they become core in the future through diversification.

Engagement with this quadrant will require the University to continually scan both the technology and marketing environment and develop one or two innovative projects or seek several smaller ones using peripheral technologies.
