The 1970s witnessed the ‘golden age’ of American disaster narratives in both literature and film, and many of the dramatised themes anticipate present-day debates on ‘eco-collapse’, political ‘terrorist’ threats, irresponsible and corrupt corporate capitalism, natural disaster and evil suffering, and other monstrosities of modernity.
