Biography

I gained my AHRC-funded PhD in History of Art from the University of Birmingham. I specialise in modern art and my research interests include: modern art and therapeutics, visual culture in early twentieth-century Germany, migration, wartime art and exhibitions in Britain and the US, and art pedagogy. Before joining the University of Leicester, I was a Teaching Associate in the Art History, Curating and Visual Studies department at the University of Birmingham.

Research

My research interests include modern art and therapeutics, visual culture in early twentieth-century Germany, migration, wartime art and exhibitions in Britain and the US, and art pedagogy. I am currently working on a book about therapeutic art and modernism that examines how modern artists, pedagogues, schools, museums and hospitals developed occupational therapy and art therapy in the first half of the twentieth century.
