My background is best described as ‘varied’. I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2000 with a degree in Ancient History and Archaeology, and from the University of Bradford in 2003 with an MSc in Scientific Methods in Archaeology.

From there I worked in document control for the railway industry, administration roles at a variety of Higher Education institutions, supervisor of a civilian team in South Yorkshire Police and museum administration / volunteer management back in the East Midlands.

Alongside a few of those roles I also carried out research into the metallurgy finds arising from excavations at a second millennium BC site on the island of Failaka - just off the coast of Kuwait; acted as Secretary to the Seminar for Arabian Studies; and co-edited two volumes of Seminar Proceedings.

I joined the department in December 2018, eager to get back into the lab and back to analysis of archaeological materials.
