SAAH's Dr Naoíse Mac Sweeney goes to a brand-new history festival in London

What does ancient history have to do with 21st century culture wars and contemporary politics? Come along and find out at a talk by SAAH’s very own Dr Naoíse Mac Sweeney on Sunday 9th December in London. The talk is part of HistFest 2018, is a brand new history festival running from 7-8th December that promotes a broad and inclusive approach to the past. From the history of witchcraft to traditions of black radicalism, and from female samurai to the lost tombs of Egypt, HistFest seeks to entertain as well as educate with a mixture of talks, panel discussions, workshops and live performances. Amidst it all, Naoíse will be presenting a paper about the Trojan War and how it has been understood through history, from the genealogical claims of Tudor monarchs to contemporary rhetoric about the ‘clash of civilisations’. We hope to see you there.
