We had a quick chat with Victoria who shared her feelings about graduating and her plans for the future:

During graduation, I learned that I had received the Archaeology and Ancient History MA prize for the year. It felt so good to make my family doubly proud on graduation day – to show them that I had done so well in my graduate studies. I hadn’t seen them since I left the United States in September 2017 and I loved that I could celebrate my success with them when they came to Leicester for my graduation ceremony. I absolutely adored my time in the department and my year and a half in England, but unfortunately my student visa expired in late January and I had to return to Philadelphia. I’m eager to return in the fall of 2019 however, to begin my PhD at the University of Reading. I’ll be researching the extant assemblage of Roman-period hairpins in Britain. I researched Romano-British brooches for my MA dissertation and I’m so excited to continue growing my specialisation in small finds and objects of personal adornment. But for now, I’m going to spend these next few months in America working, seeing family and friends, and trying to eat as much American diner food as I can get my hands on!

Congratulations to Victoria and all those who graduated. If you'd like to learn more about the range of courses we offer, you can find further information here including contact details if you're interested in joining us here in Leicester.
