Bursaries

The Classical Association provides bursaries for students and teachers to attend the conference. Information regarding these Classical Association bursaries, including how to apply and deadline dates, is available from: http://www.classicalassociation.org/grants.html. Application for these is made directly to the Classical Association, not to the University of Leicester.

Due to generous donations, the School of Archaeology and Ancient History at Leicester is also able to offer a small number of conference fee only part-bursaries (typically in the range £100 to £300). These will be available to postgraduate students who have been unsuccessful in securing funding from the Classical Association, so applications should be made to the Classical Association scheme first. Our bursaries will also be available to post-PhD, postdoctoral candidates and ECRs who are not yet in a permanent post.

After the Classical Association announces its bursary awards, if you are a postgraduate student and have been unsuccessful in applying to the Classical Association for funding or are a post-PhD, postdoctoral candidate or ECR, please send a brief statement of no more than 300 words as a Word or PDF attachment to ca2018@le.ac.uk, explaining your academic and financial reasons for applying for these bursaries.

Bursaries are so far available through the generous donations of:

Robert Easton, in memory of his brother, Michael D. J. Easton

Classical Press of Wales, with especial thanks to Dr Anton Powell

Dorothy Buchan Fund, University of Leicester

Deadline for applications to the School of Archaeology and Ancient History bursary scheme is 12 noon GMT 26th January 2018. Successful applicants will be notified in February.
