CSSAH Postgraduate Fund 2017/18

Bursaries are available for the 2017/18 academic year for Postgraduate Research students within the College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities.

Call for applications

The College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities has set aside funding in 2017/18 for bursaries for postgraduate research students who do not have access to other funds. Applications can be made for bursaries towards, for example,

  • giving papers at conferences
  • field trips and visits to archives
  • organising small events, etc.

Please note that for conference funding you should not normally apply to the fund unless you have been accepted to give a paper at the conference (or subject to confirmation).

The bursaries awarded will not normally exceed £500 each and will be capped at one award per student per academic year. Students are, however, expected to seek funding initially from their own departments (e.g. allocated grants, open funding rounds) where available.

We also strongly encourage collaborative bids spanning departments in the College, for which the maximum would normally not exceed £750. Bids here might include organising workshops or small conferences.

There are three rounds available in the 2017/18 academic year. For each round:

  1. Applications must be made using the form which can be accessed at the end of this page
  2. All bids must be supported by a supervisor’s statement (applications submitted without this will be excluded). Please obtain a supervisor statement prior to completing this form.

Applications will be assessed on a competitive basis by a College panel and must be submitted by the following dates:

Payment of an award is via sterling cheque collectable from the Fees Payments Office unless alternative arrangements are specified in the application.
