CERD and the British Educational Research Association ethical guidance

The Ethical Appraisal Framework supports researchers who are following the British Education Research Association (BERA) ethical guidance.

The CERD Ethical Appraisal Framework supports researchers who are following the British Education Research Association (BERA) ethical guidelines for educational research, which can be found in its fourth edition HERE

The CERD framework has been updated as a result of Alison Fox’s participation in the working groups which created this revised edition of the guidance and has been mapped on to the latest version of BERA's Ethical Guidelines (2018). This document has been created to enable researchers to identify whether and how they are meeting BERA ethical guidance. Please find a copy of the framework mapped onto BERA guidance HERE: (pdf) (.doc).

None of the resources on this site are intended to be used to replace locally appropriate protocols for ethical appraisal but rather to inform applications for approval/permission.
