College Forum

The College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities annual College Forum will take place on 1 May 2019.

1 May 2019 10am-1pm, Charles Wilson Sports Hall

Join us for our 4th College Forum!

This year we are focusing on our core priorities: Student Experience, Research and Student Recruitment. We also know we need to address staff moral and as a starting point hope you will join us at the Forum for conversations and an opportunity to meet the Staff Health and Wellbeing Team. We will have a suggestion box for you to submit ideas of improvement that we hope to take forward.

The Forum will provide the space for us to share experiences, ideas, research and good practice in teaching and learning. Each School will host a stand along with other divisions such as Distance Learning, ELTU, Digital, RED, Attenborough Arts, Staff Health and Wellbeing, and LIAS to name a few.

The Forum format enables you to meet many colleagues from CSSAH schools, meet some of our central service areas and take part in our three speed networking events. The first event will be for College Professional Services to have conversations with Central Services teams to learn about each others workloads/challenges; this is a new session and reflects the feedback we had from last year's event to provide more for our Professional Services colleagues within the College. The second speed networking will focus on research which has been really successful at our previous Forums. The final session will focus on the student experience.

This year we also have a student/LLI stand in the format of an Escape Room, which is part of a student project that is taking place over the summer.

Coffee and cake will be available. We hope you can make it.

Henrietta O’Connor and Ruth Daly

Some feedback from the College Forum 2018:

The best part of the Forum was seeing the range of activities being undertaken and having a chance to talk with staff from all areas of the College. Also seeing the roles played by Professional Services teams showcased.
It was excellent to have some time to talk to colleagues we only ever see in passing and to make some potential contacts for grant apps etc.
I think it was really great to meet people that I always email and never actually meet! Seeing everything that is going on is an eye-opener.
There was a fantastic atmosphere at this event – everyone was so positive and engaging.
