As a GP appraiser I have appraised a number of doctors. I have been able to assist other doctors through the interview and PDP to improve their clinical practice and their sustainability within general practice, by having a better work life balance.

Working as ad director of LLRPCL ( the GP provider company ) – there are a number of achievements.
• Setting up the provider company which covers approximately 90% of the practices within Leicestershire and Rutland. The model which we developed, has been duplicated in newer organisations such as other local federations.
• As a director I was responsible for organising and managing the ultrasound contract. I negotiated and managed the contract for this AQP service, which is still running.
• As part of the LLRPCL team I helped negotiate the first tripartite contract between a Secondary Care Trust, Community Provider and GP Provider company. The model developed has been reviewed by other trusts and CCGs.

As a CCG Board member I have a number of responsibilities, that cover both primary and secondary care.
• 7 Day Primary Care Working – I developed and piloted a new model of working. This model has been reviewed and being used by other local CCGs, having been adapted to suit their health economy. The pilot was also recognised nationally – Pulse GP Award – finalists ( TEAM OF THE YEAR )
• As part of the committee for managing primary care within the CCG – I am helping to shape the future working of general practice locally, and ensure that it is of a high quality and sustainable for the future.
• I have responsibility for performance, quality and safety at University Hospital of Leicester, for Leicestershire and Rutland , through the various committee and boards I attend.

I have always taught as part of my career, either informally on the ward, or in more formal situations as a tutor. This has been an important of my career. I continue to teach FY2 trainees and GP Registrars in the practice, and am a clinical skills tutor. I expect teaching to always play a part in my career.
