Biography

James graduated from Leicester in 2001 and returned here as a Consultant Nephrologist since 2012. He completed his doctorate into haemodialysis induced cardiac injury with the University of Nottingham and continues to research strategies to improve cardiovascular outcomes for patients with chronic kidney disease and those requiring haemodialysis. He is currently the chief investigator for two interventional trials designed to improve left ventricular structure and function in this patient group.

Having been through the scheme himself, James is no stranger to integrated academic training; he has now successfully helped trainees to secure Academic Clinical Fellowships, PhD studentships and even personal fellowships with the NIHR. Whatever your academic aspirations in Nephrology, James will be able to support or link you with people and projects of interest.
