Biography

Adrian Palfreeman qualified in Sheffield in 1985 and subsequently worked in Leicester as a junior doctor.

He then worked as a medical registrar at Westminster Hospital in HIV medicine during the first trials of antiretroviral therapy caring for HIV patients before the advent of effective antiretroviral treatment.

He then completed his senior registrar training back in Leicester and was appointed to a consultant post in Peterborough in 1996.

He was appointed as a senior clinical scientist at the MRC CTU leading on global clinical trials in HIV medicine in 2003.

He moved back to Leicester as a consultant in 2006 and continued his role at the MRC, enabling Leicester to recruit to a large number of international clinical trials and cohort studies.

He has contributed to national guidelines in HIV Treatment, Testing, Cancer and Pregnancy.

He was appointed as Honorary Reader in Infection and Immunity at the University of Leicester in 2016.
