East Midlands life sciences researchers and GSK launch medicines discovery collaboration for lung disease

The Universities of Leicester and Nottingham have announced a new strategic research collaboration with GSK, using genetics to aid the development of new medicines for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and related airway disorders. The £1.24m investment over three years provides an East Midlands-focused boost to the Life Sciences Sector Deal of the UK Government’s Industrial Strategy.

LD3 at ELRIG Drug Discovery 2017

This year on the 3rd- 4th October, ELRIG Drug Discovery was back at the ACC in Liverpool and for the first time, LD3 together with representatives from the university’s Research and Enterprise Division (RED), Leicester Precision Medicine Institute (LPMI) and Leicester Institute of Cellular and Structural Biology (LISCB) secured a place on the exhibitor list.

Proximity to Discovery MRC award takes LD3 researchers into Industry

The Research and Enterprise Division here at Leicester were the proud recipients of an award from the MRC Proximity to Discovery: Industry Engagement Fund (P2D). The fund was designed to provide flexible funding for innovative ways to enable the initial development of academic-industry collaborations. University of Leicester researchers and GSK collaborate to discover new cancer treatments

The Leicester Drug Discovery and Diagnostics established a Discovery Partnership with Academia (DPAc) contract with the global pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). The project is led by Professor Simon Wagner from Cancer studies and it aims to treat aggressive forms of blood cancer.
