Health Data Research UK at Leicester

Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) is the national institute for data science in health, bringing together UK experts to develop and apply cutting edge data science approaches to clinical, biological, genomic and other multi-dimensional health data to address pressing health research challenges.  Leicester is a partner in the HDR UK Midlands 'Substantive Site', and provides leadership towards making diverse healthcare and biobank data comprehensively discoverable, and on analytical method development and application.

The Leicester HDR UK 'hub' is Directed by Professors Anthony Brookes and Keith Abrams. It is conveniently located in the Adrian Building and offers a modern space to co-locate and promote close interaction between various contributing groups involved in bioinformatics, medical informatics, computer technology, epidemiology, and biostatistics, as well as invited external experts. Consolidating such key expertise provides Leicester’s researchers and healthcare professionals with a focus for discussion, advice, innovation and collaboration, to drive forward our progress in HDR UK related activities.

One of the HDR UK objectives is to bring a more coherent approach to training in the field of health data research. To this end the University of Leicester is currently in the process of centralising information regarding health data related training and events. For further details please contact Spencer Gibson.
