Flow Cytometry Facility

FACS Facility Header

Flow cytometry is a laser-based technology which allows in depth analysis of the characteristics of cells or particles.

The core facility at UoL is a new venture, formed in 2018, to deliver a state of the art flow cytometry service to support both internal and external collaborative research. The existing facilities have been brought together with three new instruments to form a core facility managed by Jenny Hincks, who brings 15 years' analytical and cell sorting experience to the University.

The facility is situated in lab G43, Maurice Shock Building, and houses a BD FACSAria Fusion cell sorter and three analysers – a BD FACSCanto II, a Beckman Coulter Cytoflex and a BD Accuri C6 Plus. The facility is open for use for all researchers at University of Leicester and for collaborations with external parties.
