CEHS donor Bob Woods receives honorary Doctor of Laws

A key benefactor for the Centre of Environmental Health and Sustainability, Bob Woods, has received an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws.

Bob Woods MBE is one of the founders of financial firm Mattioli and Woods. He is also a key benefactor for the Centre of Environmental Health and Sustainability (CEHS). On Friday 17 January 2020 Bob received the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws from the University of Leicester.

Bob's involvement with CEHS has been motivated by personal experience of asthma. His support of CEHS is promoting research into the effects on the human body of long-term exposure to the thousands of toxins that surround us all the time, in this age of manufactured environments. His growing interest in environmental health prompted him to endow a chair of Environmental Epidemiology. This in turn enabled the setting up of the Centre for Environmental Health and Sustainability, housed in the George Davies Building - the UK’s largest carbon-neutral ‘Passivhaus’.

Congratulations from all at CEHS, Bob!
