A wealth of information is available for new staff starters from the University homepage http://www2.le.ac.uk/staff/newstaff
For new postgraduate research students, please refer to the following link: http://www2.le.ac.uk/departments/gradschool/zone

New starters are welcomed to the Department by their PI and team members, and undertake bespoke inductions so that they always have a point of contact for any queries. The full induction process is described in this pdf document.
Cancer Centre Induction Protocol

All new starters are required to have a building safety induction and a Departmental safety induction

Further health and safety information

Individual groups have their own Laboratory Safety Supervisors assigned (LSS). The LSS will also undertake an individual lab safety induction with all laboratory members.
COSHH assessments must be undertaken for all chemicals that bear risk phrases, and the individuals must familiarise themselves with these prior to undertaking any laboratory-based work.

Information Governance

The University requires that all new starters undertake mandatory training in Information Governance (IG).
In addition, CS mandates that all individuals associated with the Department undertake the MRC IG training  available here . Certificates from this training once completed should be forwarded to Dr Lynne Howells lh28@le.ac.uk.

IT support

For IT help visit IT Services, for all you need to know about IT at the University.

If you need any local advice on IT issues, disposal of IT equipment, device encryption or data storage requirements, please contact the Departmental IT manager Mr Jon Naylor nay@le.ac.uk.

Jon Naylor is the Department's IT representative and is responsible for arranging and renewing IT registration for staff and external collaborators. To set up a staff account it is necessary to have the SAP reference number for that employee. External collaborator accounts require more information and staff members who wish to have such an account set up for someone should complete this form.

Contact IT Services Desk on 0116 252 2253, at ithelp@le.ac.uk or through IT Self Service, to make a request or report an issue.

Leavers

When members of staff leave the Department, they will have a leavers exit interview for further information on leaving requirements. Staff will also be given the opportunity to fill in and return an exit survey form. This enables us to capture information on destinations, assess staff experience during their time with us and enable us to act on any suggested improvements.
