Becoming a Telephone Fundraising Ambassador for the 2017 Annual Fund Telephone Campaign

What are Telephone Fundraising Ambassadors required to do?

Telephone graduates to:

  • Student Caller Engage graduates in conversation and establish a rapport
  • Update the graduate's contact details
  • Find out about the graduate's time at Leicester
  • Find out what they are doing now
  • Let them know about Alumni events
  • Ask for a donation to one of the University's fundraising projects
  • Keep a clear and accurate record of all phone calls using the professional call handling software
  • Process donations over the phone


When are Telephone Fundraising Ambassadors required to work?

The campaign will take place during the Autumn Term for 5 weeks. The telephone campaign begins on Monday 30 October and finishes Sunday 3 December 2017, you must be available for your shifts between these dates.

Calling graduates on:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings 6:15pm-9:15pm (3 hours) and on

Saturdays 11.30am-5.30pm and Sundays 2:00pm-8:00pm (6 hours).


All successful candidates will be split into two teams:

Team A are expected to work Monday (3 hours), Wednesday (3 hours) and Saturday (6 hours).

Team B are expected to work Tuesday (3 hours), Thursday (3 hours) and Sunday (6 hours).

Please state on your application your preferred team - Team A either/or Team B.

If you are unable to work your allocated shift, you will have to make arrangements with a Telephone Fundraising Ambassador from the opposite team to swap shifts with you.

The calling takes place on campus in the Ken Edwards Building.

All successful candidates will be required to attend two compulsory training sessions on Saturday 28 October and Sunday 29 October - 9.30am to 5.30pm both days

2. Interviews

If successful in the voicemail application process, you will be invited to take part in an interview on either Tuesday 17 or Wednesday 18 October.

There are four interview slots available:

Tuesday 17 October

Slot 1 - 11.30am-2pm

Slot 2 - 3pm-5.30pm

Wednesday 18 October

Slot 3 - 10am-12.30pm

Slot 4 - 13.30-4pm

If your voicemail application is successful we will email confirmation of your interview slot, so please ensure you state clearly as many dates and times you would be available for interview as possible.

Successful candidates will then be asked to attend the training sessions on Saturday 28 October and Sunday 29 October.


3. Get paid to be professionally trained!

All successful candidates will be required to attend two compulsory training sessions led by our external fundraising consultants on Saturday 28 October and Sunday 29 October between 9:30am - 5:00pm. (Please note, training may finish early and you will be paid only for the hours worked.)

You must be able to attend both of these sessions for you to become a Telephone Fundraising Ambassador. If you are recruited but do not complete the required training you will not be able to work as a Telephone Fundraising Ambassador.
