The Annual Fund Telephone Campaign 2017

Caller with headset
Student Caller
Every year since 2004, a team of committed and enthusiastic students have taken part in our annual Telephone Campaign, speaking to graduates, family and friends to raise vital philanthropic funds for the University. So far the Annual Fund has helped raise over £1.2million.

The team of current students will give updates on life at Leicester today, share the latest breaking news from the University and inform of any upcoming alumni and supporter events.

During the 2016/17 Telephone Campaign, a team of 35 Telephone Fundraising Ambassadors raised an amazing £120,000, including £118,000 for The Student Opportunities Fund and £2,000 for the Attenborough Arts Centre.

The telephone campaign is great opportunity for students to learn more about the University, gain work experience and develop their communication skills:

Nick, who worked on the campaign said:

Taking part in the Annual Fund was a fantastic experience. Having the chance to speak with our Alumni really did help me when it came to assessing my future options; the advice I was given is priceless when it comes to weighing up my career opportunities. Working with such great people, in an enjoyable setting that benefits both yourself personally and the university itself, along with its fantastic causes, is an incredibly rare opportunity, and one I enjoyed very much.

Emily, an English and American Studies student, joined the team with the intention of making a difference:

Becoming a student caller was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. Knowing that you are raising money for such an important cause made me feel like I was helping to give back to the University.

Amy enjoyed getting to know our graduates:

Working as a Telephone Fundraising Ambassador was challenging and rewarding which is exactly what I hoped it would be. It was wonderful speaking with the alumni who still after many years shared a passion for the University which I loved! Even better was that the project was so worthwhile and I was proud to be a part of it.
