This workshop will provide a hands-on introduction to creating digital exhibitions with Omeka.net. By the end of the session participants will have created a free account and uploaded a selection of content to form a simple exhibition. Linear Regression 2 A Practical Guide
The second session on regression will look at using regression models in practice and address some of the common issues that arise. The use of dummy variables to allow the inclusion of categorical independent variables will be covered and students will be made aware of the existence of alternative modelling techniques for use with categorical dependent variables. The remainder of the session covers regression diagnostics and addressing issues that these raise.

Preparing for the Viva
This workshop is specifically for those students who have already submitted their doctoral thesis for examination or are about to submit in the next six months. The session will provide information about the examination and practical advice on how best to prepare for the viva. It will also give students the opportunity to practise answering questions about their thesis and the chance to ask any questions they may have about the viva process.

The workshop is in two parts: The first part of the workshop focuses on the essential elements of developing a winning CV that will attract the interest of the target employer. This is followed by how to complete application forms in an effective way that makes the employer want to invite you for interview. Hints and tips are provided on how best to present information to successfully meet the applicant criteria employers are seeking.

Structuring and Writing Your Thesis
This workshop provides guidance on structuring your thesis and starting to write up your doctoral work. It will cover the University’s thesis and submission regulations as well as how to decide upon and develop a coherent structure for your thesis. We will consider a number of writing techniques for making a start on the thesis, and also discuss how to write for your examiners. There will be a number of opportunities to practise these skills during the session.
