This course will show you to the potential of OneNote to collect and organise different types of information. OneNote is flexible. It can be used to organise meeting notes, to plan personal or team activities and to help you collect notes linked to websites and documents as you research them. Some teams are starting to use it collaboratively to collect and share resources and information with their team. During the course you will find out how to create and organise a notebook, add a variety of content, use tags to categorise information and how to search across one or more notebooks.

An Intermediate Course in R Programming
R is a dynamic programming tool. Like other programming languages, customised mathematical and statistical operations can be created using the R script with little effort, thanks to the built-in powerful mathematical and statistical tools as well as the seamless integration with other contributed packages. In this course, participants will learn important R functions to summarise their data. The course will present the essential tools and techniques to write R scripts, conduct customised operations and repetitive tasks. Participants will also learn how to debug and capture the errors in the R scripts effectively.

Linear Regression 2 A Practical Guide
The second session on regression will look at using regression models in practice and address some of the common issues that arise. The use of dummy variables to allow the inclusion of categorical independent variables will be covered and students will be made aware of the existence of alternative modelling techniques for use with categorical dependent variables. The remainder of the session covers regression diagnostics and addressing issues that these raise.

Preparing for the Viva
This workshop is specifically for those students who have already submitted their doctoral thesis for examination or are about to submit in the next six months. The session will provide information about the examination and practical advice on how best to prepare for the viva. It will also give students the opportunity to practise answering questions about their thesis and the chance to ask any questions they may have about the viva process.
