Change to the header and footer across the web site

(The following change took place on Thursday 8th September, 2011)

Usability testing has shown that a number of key links in the header and footer areas, that appear on all University pages, are either misunderstood or hard to find. This change hopes to address these issues by relocating, rewording and in some cases removing existing header and footer links. This will include the movement of the popular 'Remote Access' link to the footer. Also, the silver and black tabs seen at the top of all pages will be altered to reflect more general University navigation such as the Index A-Z and maps & directions - which will hopefully reduce confusion when users are navigating the site.

The diagram below shows what we mean by 'header' and footer'.
