Entry Requirements for Psychology

A/AS Levels

Three A-levels usually required, two AS-levels considered in place of one A-level. General Studies accepted.

GCSE

Mathematics or Statistics, English Language and Biology or Core Science and Additional Science normally required at grade C.

Access to HE Diploma

Pass relevant diploma with some 30 credits at distinction, plus the three GCSEs or equivalents stated above.

European Baccalaureate

Pass with 80% overall for both BSc Psychology and Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience or 77% for BSc Psychology with Sociology.

International Baccalaureate

BSc Psychology and Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience 34 points in total and BSc Psychology with Sociology 32 points.

Cambridge Pre-U

D3/D3/M2 in Principal Subjects for both BSc Psychology and Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience. D3/M2/M2 in Principal Subjects for BSc Psychology with Sociology.

BTEC Nationals

Three Distinctions for both Psychology and Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience, two Distinctions and a Merit for Psychology with Sociology plus GCSEs as above. National Award and Certificate may be considered in addition to supplementary qualifications.

Other Qualifications

Other national and international qualifications welcomed.

Mature students welcomed

Alternative qualifications considered.

Second Year Entry

Subject to availability may be possible for those with advanced qualifications strictly comparable with our degree structure.

Interviews are not normally required. All applicants receiving an offer will be invited to visit the Department.

These degrees are not available on a part-time basis.

The facilities and level of support in the Psychology department are really good. The lecturers are always willing to help even outside of classes.
