Full entry requirements

First Year

You will be introduced to the use of both mathematical statistics and mathematical techniques relevant to the study of economics, business and finance, and receive training in the use of information technology.

Second Year

You will develop your knowledge and understanding of the application of statistics to financial economics. Microeconomics, macroeconomic theory and macroeconomics and finance are studied to provide an appropriate economics background, as well as specialist modules in principles of banking. Principles of finance further develop subject-specific skills in these areas. You additionally choose an option from money and banking, business management and strategy or sampling and inference.

Third Year

Modules in international finance, financial derivatives, corporate finance, management science and accounting are studied to provide understanding of contemporary analyses of these major areas. Statistical expertise is developed through a module in economics and business forecasting, together with a computer-based empirical project in applied econometrics or business statistics, which provides skills in econometric research. In addition, you may choose from a range of advanced topics in economic theory, investment management, applications to business decision making and the economic analysis of government and international policy.
